Lenna Bahule is a singer, body percussionist and art educator from Mozambique. She is known for her vocal range and vibrant rhythms that blend traditional with contemporary sounds from Mozambique and other Afro cultures. Her genre-bending, transcendental and captivating music style is characterized by the use of organic materials to produce music, electronic soundscapes, lyrics in different African and imaginary languages, and immersive body-mind-soul experiences. Lenna Bahule’s latest musical project is “Kumlango”, which means “portal” in Jaua. The album is a sound journey that navigates between the organic and electronic, exploring different sound textures. Lenna Bahule and her band play traditional sounds and sing in different languages from Mozambique and African diasporas, thereby creating an Afro-futuristic soundscape rooted in the past, reminiscent of the cycle of life. The first EP “Kwisa” and second EP “Nadawi” were released in 2024. The last chapter of the Kumlango trilogy will be released in 2025.
